María Eugenia F. Góngora

Maria (Sheny) was born in Guatemala in 1956. In 1976 she and her fiancé Rafael (who she had met when they were studying accountancy together) were baptised in the fire of the most high whilst on a Life in the Holy Spirit retreat. From the time of that decisive encounter began the wonderful adventure of walking with Jesus Christ and His Church, in order to serve it. She and Rafael were called to be a part of the Service Team as auxiliaries and later as servants. They undertook various courses of formation and were married in 1980. The charisms that the Lord has granted to them include the gift of prophecy (1983) which led them to start the central American vigils for peace, now the Latin American vigils, which constitute one of the major activities of the year. Later, they were called to advise the Archdiocesan Consul on the pastoral needs of youth. This led Sheny to the decisions that she should work full time for the CCR. She started by coordinating one area of teaching and later, took on the whole Archdiocesan coordination of the CCR. Today she is the National Coordinator of the CCR of Guatemala and vice president of the Latin American Catholic Charismatic Council (CONCCLAT). She is a part of the Executive of the National Commission of Missions and of the Department of Lay Movements and New Ecclesial Communities of the Episcopal Conference. The Lord has given her two children Adriana and Rafael junior who also serve the Lord in their prayer group and many events. In love with Jesus Christ and Our Blessed Lady Mary the whole family have decided to follow the Lord asking for the strength of the Holy Spirit to let them persevere to the end.
